Containers for Sale in Nigeria
East Africa's most experienced container fabrication company now serves West Africa. Container homes, offices, and commercial units available for Nigeria and other West African markets.
Nigeria is one of Africa's largest container markets — with a rapidly growing middle class, an acute housing shortage in Lagos, Abuja, and other major cities, and a vibrant commercial real estate sector. Container homes, offices, and commercial units are gaining significant traction in Nigeria as affordable, fast alternatives to traditional construction.
Frontier Containers serves the Nigeria market primarily as a design and specification resource and a potential export partner. We can fabricate containers in Kenya and export via sea freight to Nigerian ports, or we can work with Nigerian partners who want our fabrication specifications, designs, and expertise.
Nigeria's container construction market is still developing, and many Nigerian buyers look to East Africa — where container fabrication is more established and quality standards are higher — for quality container structures. We welcome Nigerian clients and can discuss the most appropriate arrangement for your project.

Nigeria's Growing Container Construction Market
Nigeria's housing deficit is estimated at over 20 million units, making it one of the largest in Africa. Container homes are increasingly seen as a credible solution — particularly in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Enugu where land is extremely expensive and brick construction timelines are long.
Nigerian architects and developers are looking to East Africa and South Africa for inspiration and expertise. Kenya's container fabrication industry — more established and technically diverse — is a natural source for designs, materials specifications, and consultation for Nigerian projects.
We welcome partnerships with Nigerian contractors and developers who want to bring East African-quality container fabrication to the Nigerian market. Our specifications, material lists, and design expertise are available for licensed partners.
Export Route: Kenya to Nigeria
For direct export from Kenya to Nigeria, the most common route is sea freight from the Port of Mombasa to Apapa Port in Lagos. A 40ft container sent by sea takes approximately 15–20 days on the water, with additional time for port clearance on both ends.
The economics of exporting fabricated containers to Nigeria depend heavily on sea freight costs, Nigerian import duties, and the relative cost of local Nigerian fabrication. In general, direct export makes most sense for specialty products that are difficult to fabricate locally — such as cold rooms, tanktainers, or high-specification container homes with bespoke fittings.
For standard container homes and offices, a licensing/franchise model — where we provide full specifications and training to a Nigerian fabricator — may be more economical. Contact us to discuss which approach fits your Nigeria project.

Frequently Asked Questions — Nigeria
Can you really export containers from Kenya to Nigeria?+
Yes. We can fabricate containers in Nairobi and export via sea freight from the Port of Mombasa to Nigerian ports (primarily Apapa, Lagos). The economics depend on the specific product and sea freight rates at time of order. Contact us for a full export quotation.
Is it cheaper to buy from Kenya or fabricate locally in Nigeria?+
For standard container homes and offices, local Nigerian fabrication may be cheaper when you factor in sea freight. However, for specialty products — cold rooms, tanktainers, or high-spec custom homes — our expertise and materials quality may justify the export cost. The best approach depends on your specific requirements.
Can you do a video consultation with our Nigeria team?+
