Containers for Sale in Uganda
Exporting containers from Kenya to Uganda. Container homes, offices, stalls, and schools dispatched from our Nairobi yard to Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe, Mbale, Mbarara, and beyond.
Uganda is one of Frontier Containers' most active export markets. As a landlocked country, Uganda imports much of its container supply via the Port of Mombasa and through overland suppliers like ourselves. We regularly export containers — both raw/unmodified and fully fabricated — to clients in Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe, Mbale, Mbarara, and other Ugandan cities.
Our cross-border capability is well-established. We handle all the logistics from our Nairobi yard to your Uganda site: loading, cross-border documentation, Busia or Malaba border crossing, and delivery to your final destination. Payment is in Kenya Shillings or US Dollars and can be done via bank transfer.
Uganda's construction and real estate market is growing rapidly, and container homes, offices, and stalls are gaining popularity as fast, affordable alternatives to traditional construction. With Kenya's more established container fabrication industry, Ugandan clients get better quality and wider choice sourcing from Frontier Containers.

Kenya–Uganda Container Trade
Uganda relies heavily on Kenya for shipping container supply due to its landlocked geography. Most containers arrive in Uganda via the Port of Mombasa, transiting through Kenya's Northern Corridor. Frontier Containers — based in Nairobi — is well-positioned to supply containers to Uganda at competitive prices, with shorter lead times than waiting for port delivery.
For fabricated containers (homes, offices, stalls), the advantage is even clearer. Uganda has limited fabrication capability, while Frontier Containers has a fully equipped fabrication yard in Nairobi that builds to international quality standards. A finished container home dispatched from Nairobi often costs less than locally-fabricated alternatives in Kampala.
What Uganda Clients Order Most
Our Uganda clients typically order: dry shipping containers for storage (the most common), container offices for construction sites and organizations, container homes for residential projects in Kampala's growing peri-urban areas, and container stalls for market developments. Container classrooms are also in demand from NGOs and schools in both urban and rural Uganda.
For storage containers, Uganda clients often need multiple units — we can arrange batch shipments to reduce per-unit transport costs. Payment in USD is available for Uganda clients who prefer foreign currency transactions.

Frequently Asked Questions — Uganda
Which border crossing do you use for Uganda deliveries?+
We primarily use the Busia crossing (A109) for central and southern Uganda destinations (Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe, Masaka), and Malaba crossing (A104) for eastern Uganda destinations (Tororo, Mbale, Soroti). We choose the crossing that gives the best route to your destination.
What cross-border documents are required?+
For container export to Uganda, we prepare the necessary customs export documentation from Kenya. You will need the relevant Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) import documentation on your end. We advise Uganda clients to use a licensed customs agent in Uganda to handle the import clearance.
Can I pay in US Dollars?+
Yes. For Uganda clients, we accept payment in USD via bank transfer. We'll provide a USD invoice. The exchange rate used is the prevailing CBK rate at time of order.
How long does a container take to reach Kampala from Nairobi?+
Transit from Nairobi to Kampala is typically 2–3 days by road, including border crossing time. Add fabrication time (3–6 weeks) for modified containers. Total lead time for a fabricated container home is 5–9 weeks from order to Kampala delivery.
